Jun 4, 2020 · This has been happening for a few months, but I still don't know how to fix it. Every time I click on something while using my desktop, a black outline appears around what I selected. I think it might be something involving ease of access or voice over, but I couldn't make it stop. I would appreciate help fixing this.

Jan 4, 2023 · Everything I click on or hover over has a thick black outline. I don't seem to know how to fix it, I've tried clearing cookies and removing extensions, as well as updating to the latest version. Thanks.

Jul 16, 2024 · This feature is in fact part of Windows, and we can also use the arrow keys or Tab key in File Explorer to manipulate this black box. I noticed you are a member of the preview program, I noticed that other preview program members have submitted similar questions, uninstalling KB5039302 KB5040442 may resolve this issue.

Aug 24, 2020 · Since Edge is using Chromium, I have noticed that they have also implemented the thick black border/outline when a textbox/menu is selected. On Chrome, I have removed this by going to Flags >> #form-controls-refresh - Disable. I have done the same on Edge but the borders are still showing. Anything else we can do to get this removed?

Dec 9, 2021 · Likely a search box hover menu. We have a number of reports for that. Have you tried restarting the Explorer Process in the Task manager? Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. You may need to select More details at the bottom of the window to see everything. Select the Processes tab.
