Her lover, Gino, is played by David Weston, who also starred with Jane Asher in Romeo & Juliet as Romeo & Juliet. He was also in The Winter’s Tale with Asher. Remember Asher starred as the Shepherd girl in that play.

Margaret Asher was a professor of the oboe and one of her pupils had been George Martin. Jane began her acting career at the age of five, playing the role of Nina in the 1952 film Mandy. She appeared in a number of films, including The Quatermass Xperiment (1955), The Greengage Summer (1961), The Prince And The Pauper (1962) and Alfie (1966).

People tend to either forget or never were informed that George Martin is a classically trained pianist. He attended the Guildhall School of Music from 1947-50, where he studied piano and oboe. His oboe teacher was actually Jane Asher's mother Margaret Asher. And in fact, he did play on some of the Beatle's records. More on George:
