In this guide you'll learn a few ways to play other songs in Synthesia: those you created yourself or found elsewhere. Several methods are covered. First, it's important to understand which types of music Synthesia can use: MIDI or MusicXML files.
Playing your first song. - Synthesia
Synthesia shows music notes as falling blocks! Usually the left hand is blue and the right hand is green. When a block has a number, use that finger to play it. Your thumb is 1 and your pinky finger is 5. When there are blank notes between those with finger hints, you can usually use context clues to figure out which fingers to use.

Learning about Musical Keyboards - Synthesia
One of the best parts about Synthesia is that it can play all the background instruments for you. And setting Synthesia to use your keyboard as its output device is usually the best way to get the fastest, highest-quality sound. So, it's nice when a keyboard has the "full set" of at least the 128 General MIDI instruments.
First-time setup - Synthesia
You can set a different color for each interaction choice, and Synthesia will remember those selections for you. By default, choosing the Background option will select "Hidden" for the color. If you would like to see the notes for a Part that you have Synthesia playing for you in the background, you can change its color here.
Changing instrument sounds - Synthesia
To change back to Synthesia's default sounds, just choose the "Built-in sounds by Voice Crystal®" entry that is always at the top of the list. Note: On Android 11 and later the list is always present and there is a plus ('+') button. Tapping that will show the system file-picker so you can locate a SoundFont someplace on your device.
