Restored footage from 1933 of Edward Augustine Savoy, who at the time was the oldest living government employee in Washington, D.C. Savoy was first hired in July 1871 as a page in the State Department by Secretary of State Hamilton Fish. Over a 63 year federal career, he worked under 21 secretaries of state during the administrations of 14 presidents, from Ulysses S. Grant to Franklin D. Roosevelt, retiring in 1933 at age 77 as Chief Messenger to Secretary of State Henry L. Stimson. Footage fram
