On the evening of September 8, 2023, Santa Fe 3751 was being readied for the short trip up to Union Station Los Angeles to participate in Train Festival. In addition to Amtrak and Metrolink display equipment, 3751 would also join a freight locomotive from the BNSF Railway and the ATSF 5704, an SD45-2 freight locomotive, owned by the Southern California Railway Museum recently restored to wear its original bicentennial colors.
