Did you know David Prowse recorded Darth Vader’s dialogue for Star Wars (1977) in just a couple of hours? In a conversation on Late Night With Conan O’Brien in 1995, James Earl Jones explained how George Lucas later decided the character needed a deeper, less recognisable voice. Lucas briefly considered Orson Welles before choosing Jones, who then recorded the final performance in a short two and a half hour session.
