Here’s my dad Hoyt Axton playing “Sweet Misery” in the early 70s. This song appeared as the first track on & single from his 1973 album ‘Less Than A Song’ and then later, on his 1977 compilation album ‘Road Songs.’ It didn’t chart, but it is still one of his better known songs. “Sweet Misery” was covered by John Denver in 1973 and Martha Reeves & the Vandellas in 1974, both very different but great versions of this ‘lil Hoyt tune.
