Invalidation, a term in psychology, involves dismissing another person’s thoughts or feelings. Individuals who are insecure will often use it as a tool to assert superiority — or to avoid uncomfortable emotions. Being invalidated can leave someone feeling isolated and ignored. Some invalidation is even more subtle than these examples. You could feel invalidated when you’re expecting praise, and don’t get it. You might feel invalidated when your partner doesn’t agree with your opinion. Invalidati
