This video of a bobcat was taken on a cellphone while on a bike ride down Catman trail early this morning! Bobcats are common across Alabama but are rarely seen. These elusive felines are solitary and primarily nocturnal. Many people will mistake a bobcat such as this one for a cougar because of its reddish-brown coloration instead the smoky gray coat more well-known in bobcats. It’s hard to see in the video, but this feline has a short tail and a spotted belly, differentiating it from a cougar.
